Flying Unicorn March KOM - Part 3

Hi everyone :))

Where is March going?? Can't believe we are over half way through March and I have still more to share with you all using the Flying Unicorn March KOM and add ons.  There are still some left in store so if you are after a great kit full of yummy products and great value for money...head on over.

For the layout below I was inspired by an online class I took of Georgia Heald called Pop and Colours #2.  Georgia has some crazy talent and I loved watching her process.  So the background of this layout is inspired be her...thanks Georgia and thanks for sharing your tips :))

"Catching Bubbles" 

Went with a circle theme here... the kit came with a circle Prima mask and a circle stamp from Bo Bunny...
The gorgeous Aqua blue mist here is from 13 Arts which was also included in the Mixed Media Add On.  I have used a combination of the mist and gelatos on my layout.

Got to keep going...have loads to do and deadlines approaching!!

Guest Designer at Off the Rails Scrapbooking

Well I am back again today with some exciting news...

I was asked to be Guest Designer for a challenge blog called Off the Rails Scrapbooking.  Its a relatively new challenge blog with loads of inspiration and great challenges each month.  Its not very often I get asked to do this sort of thing so I jumped at the chance.  

This month the challenge is "Bling it Up"

oooh I was excited...my chance to go all sparkly...and that I did!

"Happy Memory"

I was so excited to just do something for fun. I have used some of the gorgeous MME paper range Cut and Paste...yeah finally getting around to using some of the papers I got before I had Luca :)))

Beautiful Manor House flowers and the butterfly chipboard piece is from Scrap FX as well as some Freckled Fawn heart chipboard pieces.

I totally loved getting my Twinkling H20's out again for my background,  I used Coral Berry...such a delicious colour, its sort of a combination of pink/red/orange and my Tim Holtz Distress Glitter...plus loads of gold sequins.

Hope you have a go at this challenge...gold and glitter is all the trend at the moment so if you have been wanting to have a go..here is your chance.

Flying Unicorn March KOM - Part 2

Hi my crafty friends :)

I am back today to share with you another project from the March KOM at Flying Unicorn.  Such a versatile kit jammed packed with lots of the latest products. In the Mixed Media Add On there were a tray of water colour paints.  I used a combination of these paints and gelatos to get the effect below over my masked area.

The Petaloo flowers were part of the kit but the Prima flowers are from my own supplies....love these colours together...yellow makes me so happy :))

Flying Unicorn March KOM - Part 1

Hi everyone,

Well its another new month so another new kit is available at Flying Unicorn.  This month its pack full of  gorgeous papers from the Authentique– Classic Elegant Collection.  Authentique is a paper range that I am not too familiar with but I must say I love the quality of the papers. Anyway this paper range has my favourite colour amongst it and looks so striking against the black.

"Best Day Ever"

The beautiful Petaloo blue and black flowers were just stunning in this kit and matched in perfectly.

Sigh...the peacock chipboard in the kit was a real winner! And I couldn't believe it when the kit also came with some gorgeous aqua blue feathers...I knew right away what I was going to do with them both...give my little peacock a feathery tail :)))

I have altered the peacock and feathers also with some Silks Acrylic Glaze...love that stuff!

And my big boy turned 7 yesterday and it was an all weekend birthday party...lol!! He had a fun little lego party with his friends..

Below is my project that I have created using the gorgeous Timeless Collection from 13@rts as well as the Blue Matte Paint, Pearl Navy Blue Mist, 13@rts Gesso and Modeling Paste.

Gorgeous flowers are from Prima and Petaloo, chipboard cogs are 2Crafty and the metal cogs from Prima.  

Metal adornments are from the Flying Unicorn which I have touched up using Lindy' s Stamp Gang Grab a Guy Gold mist and Luminarte Silks Acrylic Glaze - Solar Gold

Ooops I even got some mist on my photo...oh well all part of the process :))

Here is a few tips from me when creating a mixed media type project.

1.  When it comes to masking, don’t always think you have to use gesso or modelling paste.  In this layout I have used the 13 arts Matte Blue paint along with a makeup sponge over a stencil to create a different effect.  Add some doodling around the shapes to make them stand out.

2.  To create a water colour effect on the background of your project, spray your favourite 13 arts mist on a plastic bag, scrunch the bag up and randomly press it down on your background.

3.  Highlight your embellishments using your mist.  Take the top off your mist bottle, using a fine paint brush paint around your embellishments to create a shadow effect.
