Flying Unicorn and Sketchabilities #120

Hi my crafty friends :)

For the month of July, Flying Unicorn are sponsors for the fabulous site Sketchabilties.  The Creative Team were asked to join in on the reveal of sketch #120.

Here is my take on the sketch...

Using the gorgeous Nirvana range from Marion Smith Designs which can be found in the store HERE.

I pulled an older Crafters Workshop mask from my collection which I hadn't used yet....gasp! and I think its now one of my favs :)....its the Bingo Card mask.  I used Shimmerz Texturez in Tidy Widy over this mask...love the shimmery subtle effect this gave my background.  Lots of stamping as well.

Gorgeous flowers from Manor House some have been altered and stunning chipboard from Creative Embellishments which you can also find other various styles in the store HERE.

Riddersholm Inspiration for Flying Unicorn

Hi Everyone,

I have a new project to share with you all using some stunning Riddersholm Papers from the Tailgate Marked Collection which you can find HERE in the store. I love the vintagey feel to these papers and the patterns are exquisite :)

I started off with my usual masking and stamping on the background and this time I wanted to add a pop of bright colour to these papers so I used some 13 Arts Ayeeda Pearl Mist - Pearl Sky Blue. Such a vibrant gorgeous blue.

I have added lots of stunning flowers from Petaloo and Prima and some gorgeous Flying Unicorn Metal Adornments.  I love to alter this with some colour using Silks Acrylic Paints.

Once I had everything down I wanted to add some white back into the back ground to make the colours really stand out. So I used a Prima Triangle mask and randomly masked some triangles over the top of my already altered background.  Love the effect here.

Thank you so much for stopping by today and letting me share this project with you.

Till next time
Melinda

Pretty Cards for Manor House Creations

Hi there everyone,

I am back today to share with you all some sweet cards I created using the gorgeous Manor House Creations "Thoughts Wandering" paper range as well as their beautiful flowers.  I haven't added any sentiments to the card as I will wait until they need to be used :)

For this card I have used cut some strips from the "Beautiful" paper and added some Silks Acrylic Paint in Ginger Flower to the background along with some water to spread it out.  Then I added my layers. How super pretty is that gorgeous pink lace flower!

Products Used:
Thoughts Wandering Papers
Vinette - Chestnut
Ornate Frame
French Lace (Pink)
Gelato - Cherry
Country Roses - Cerise

Oh I love the chipboard bike with that cute heart shaped seat...just adorable, I couldn't wait to use it! I have painted the bike in Silks Acrylic Glaze in Iridescent Gold and then touched it up in places with some more Silks Acylic Glaze in Solar Gold as well as some glitter.  I have also used in my background a Nouveae White feature frame which I have added some gorgeous Twinkling H20's to it for a water coloured effect.

Products Used:
Thoughts Wandering Papers
Nouveae White Feature Frame
Gelato Cherry
Rustic
Cuties Pies - Orange
Thoughts Wandering Blossoms
Wooden Elements - Bicycle

This was a super quick card featuring two different frames layering one on top of the other. After I added my base papers I got the first frame which is the Botanical Frame, spritzed with some Shimmerz in Pink Stilettos and immediately turned it over onto some paper towel and pressed it down. Then I added the second ornate frame and just added some glitter to the border of it.  I also ripped the end of the Denim Rosette and let it naturally curl for a shabby look.

Products Used :
Thoughts Wandering Papers
Botantical White Feature Frame
Ornate Frame
Country Roses - Azure Blue
Denim Rosette

There's these boys....

Hello my crafty friends :)

I have a fun one to share with you all today...I created this layout a few weeks back, just wanted to do something for myself, something bright and fun.

I have used lots of different manufactures here in this layout....I love to mix and match :)

The main papers are from the Studio Calico Lemon Lush collection. I have mixed them with some Amy Tangerine, My Minds Eye and Glitz.

"Love"

Beautiful flowers from Petaloo and Prima and some adorable 2Crafty chipboard.  And I still love my sequins :)

And my littlest man is 10 months old today and in the last few weeks he has started walking!!! Every day he is getting more and more confident..where has my baby gone!  No stopping him now...

Bye for now :)

A Day in May Pion Papers for Flying Unicorn

Hi there everyone,

School is back...wahooo!! LOL...loved the holidays, they were super duper busy with lots of coming and goings but its oh so good to get back to routine. The boys were keen to see their friends and teachers again, that's always a good sign right?! :)

Well I am back again to share with you all a layout I created with some very gorgeous Pion Papers that Alda sent to me from the Flying Unicorn...swoon they are so  beautiful I had a hard time trying to decide which ones to use! I went with the "A Day in May" papers.  Love the beautiful creams and greens.

I have a couple of steps to show you on how I created this layout... I apologise for the terrible photos but my only chance now with a baby is to scrap at night and lighting isn't always the best.

"This is Love"

Step 1 - I first of all cover my entire base paper with Liquitex Clear Gesso.  This seals the paper and then it doesn't matter where any of the mediums are added it will still make the colours more vibrant.

Step 2 - I wanted to go for a softer approach on this layout and make the beautiful cream colour background still stand out.  So instead of doing my usual masking with modelling paste I used Liquitex Gel Medium with a Prima Stencil. This acted as a resist when I added some Shimmerz Colouringz in Mama Sings the Blues.

Step 3 - Rather than spraying my Shimmerz I dipped a small paint brush into the bottle and just patted some on in random places and sprayed some water to move the colour along.  If you find there is too much liquid pooling in one area, just dab with some paper towel to remove the excess.

Step 4 - Now I added my paper layers.  I loved getting out my border punches for a change.  This can make your layout look interesting as well as adding more texture and depth.  I generally always rough up the edges of my papers as well.  Here I have also put some strips of washi tape to help break the monochromatic colours.

Step 5 - After that I just add my photo and start layering up my flowers and embellishments :)

Gorgeous metal embellishments from the Flying Unicorn Store.   I have altered in a few different colours of Silks Acrylic Glaze.

How beautiful is the chipboard title from Creative Embellishments.  I have sealed it with White Gesso first then added some Silks Acrylic Glaze in two different colours...Apricot Nector and Solar Gold.

And just going through my holiday photos, I thought I would share this cute one...a little boy is missing his big brothers today :(

Hope you enjoyed my quick tutorial...thanks so much for stopping by :)
