Canvas

Hello everyone and HAPPY FRIDAY!!!

Last month I got a little creative and did a canvas, my very 1st one by the way, for Manorhouse Creations. I am so happy with it...even tho I know there is room for improvement.  But happy for it being my 1st and all.

I used the canvas back to front...just cause I wanted to be different! lol!!

And just to give anyone who might be thinking they would love to try one of these OTP items, my tip is
DON'T think...just start! If you think to much, you will never do one or like me...it took ages for me to get going...lol! I have had this canvas for mmmm....probably going on over 6 months now!

So my process was this....I knew the colour scheme I wanted so I picked up the Prima brick mask and my two mist sprays, sprayed and dripped...mopped and blended with a paper towel and I came up with a background I was fairly happy with.

My World.... these little boys are really my world...I would be so lost without them.  In fact lately, I have been missing having Riley at home, but boy he is having fun at school and has really matured.  Some of the things he comes out with just cracks me up!! Anyway...I have lots of stories to scrap about that's for sure!

Those Oak leaves from Manorhouse are my favourite!! And the lime green flower and the yellow flower were both originally white...with a little Glimmermist and Shimmerz can certainly give them a lift :)))

Can't help but add in a bit of Prima...metal bicycle and heart as well as the metal button..:))

The aqua Cutie Pie flowers are also my favourite!

The frame border has lots of layers on it...first some gesso then lots of crackle paint and more Glimmermist and finally some Shimmerz!

I now plan to do more canvas's and next time I will show you my process thru a step x step.

Have a great weekend and thanks for visiting :)))

Valentine's Day...

Hello everyone,

Happy Valentines Day!!

We all know February is the month of LOVE..... so I created a layout for Manorhouse Creations all about the LOVE of my life....without him I wonder where I would be some days...!!!

Love, Cherish, Adore... I really struggle with doing layouts on white cardstock, so last month I MADE myself do one...and I am glad I did...I really love red with lime green on white...so crisp and clean.

Adorable red romance flowers from MHC....and behind the heart tag is some hidden journalling :)))

Prima wooden hearts and resins....

Chipboard words are from Imaginarium Designs.

Okay better keep going, I have a layout on the go (for next month sorry) that I want to finish before pick up time, which always manages to come around far too quickly!

My Special Parents... I quickly snapped this photo of my parents at Christmas time while we were down visiting and I couldn't wait to use some of these gorgeous pink and purple flowers from MHC.  Teamed this up with an old Basic Grey Doilie, which I backed it on a clear piece of acetate.

Well sorry so short and sweet but I have a lot to do today including catching up with you all and visiting your blogs....

Some Exciting News + GIVEAWAY!!!!

Okay maybe most of you already know this, but for those who don't..... last September I received a most exciting / nerve wracking email, I literally sat staring at the computer screen with my mouth hanging open (lol!!).....

I was asked by Scrapbooking Memories Magazine to be a regular columnist for 2012 writing articles for the new HOW TO section, targeting advanced scrappers or those who are looking to advance!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Well I for one, NEVER think of myself as advanced or profess to know much about this art (compared to some talented artists), so I am still to this day dumbfounded that I was asked but I took this opportunity with both hands and went about writing and creating, so hopefully someone would be at least inspired and helped by my articles.

I have sat on this news for about 4 months now and I can finally shout it out.....my very 1st article came out this month!!!!

Here is a sneak....

So to celebrate this moment in my creative journey, I have a copy of the latest SBM magazine that needs a new home..... so who wants it!!! :)))))

LEAVE ME A COMMENT AND LET ME KNOW IF YOU WOULD LOVE TO RECEIVE THIS MAGAZINE....

This is open internationally as well :))))
I will draw out a winner on Friday 10 February 2012....

To finish up I will leave you with a layout I created last month for Manorhouse Creations....

A beautiful moment....

I loved the effect of chopping these bigger flowers in half...

Purple Pumpkin felt clouds....

And another PP bee button :))

Thanks so much for visiting :))))

Scrap for Help....

I can't believe it's Friday already!!! I mean I LOVE Fridays but I thought I would have more time when Riley started school but just lately I haven't had time for much at all.  But I am sure that will settle down soon.

Well I am back to share with you all my very 1st layout for Scrap for Help.

February's challenge is to use muslin or surgical bandage

Easter at the Beach... surgical gauze would have to be one of my favourite recycled materials at the moment....just love all the things you can do with it.  It really gives my layout that added texture and looks especially cool when misted.  Here I have added it behind my pattern paper for a different look.

The red pattern paper is Basic Grey and I totally love those adorable blue flowers from Manorhouse Creations and not too mention the little Melissa Frances resin frames :)))

Chipboard leaves are painted in some Shimmerz and I am not even sure what brand they are...slack aren't I!!

I really hope you give this challenge a go.  All rules for this challenge can be found HERE.  Best thing...you can combine with any other challenge and still be in the running for some great prizes.

Have a fantastic weekend!!

Catching Up....

Hello everyone,

Back again from the Sunny Coast, although it wasn't very sunny at all!!! It rained pretty much the whole time we were away but then again I don't think it mattered where we were in Qld, it pretty much rained everywhere.  My sisters wedding was lovely...haven't edited any the photos yet to show but just wanted to quickly pop up my photos for yesterday (!!!)...ooops!! I did take these photos on Wednesday but never had a chance to get them up.

With all the rain the the Central Highlands over the weekend and in our catchment area, it has caused our Dam to overflow (again!) and send huge amounts of water rushing down our river system (again!).  On the south-west side of town we only have 2 entrances into the town itself, one of them being this bridge and the other one, the large bridge in the photo below. When one of these bridges is closed due to flooding (and it can take weeks for it to re-open)...it causes huge traffic chaos.  So my reason for taking these photos was that on Wednesday, it took me 1/2hr to get Riley to school!!! Normally it takes me 10 minutes, if that!!

By late this afternoon, the waters had risen and well and truly covered the foot bridge.

Okay now on to scrappy things.....

A new month means new challenges!!!  A new sketch went up at Stuck?! Sketches.

Sketch:

Simple moments are the best moments... had fun playing around with some different brands of mists here....Studio Calico is the coffee coloured one and the teal coloured one is Maya Road.  Love how that one gave it more of a "paint" look.

Bo Bunny and October Afternoon papers and some Prima flowers of course!! :))

Chipboard was painted in some Shimmerz and then I added some Shimmerz Enamalz..so sparkly!!

Hope you have a chance to give it a go....Entries are to be linked up over in the sidebar no later than 11.59pm February 29th to be in the running for one of this month's sponsor vouchers.

AND

Have you seen who has been added to the sidebar of this challenge blog?????

Yep...little ol' me!!! I was so thrilled and excited when Cynthia asked me to be on her DT!!! I will be back to share with you my layout for February soon :)))

More layouts and news over the next coming days :)))
Take care and thanks so much for visiting...you all make my day!!

Wednesday: What I saw through the lense....

Hello everyone,

I seem to be chasing my tail this week...just busy with the 1st week of school starting and then getting organised to leave tomorrow for my sisters wedding this weekend at the Sunshine Coast (so excited!!!!!!).  So my camera didn't come out much today other than photographing last minute layouts for next month, so I thought I would share with you some sneak peaks amongst others!!

My shoes and clutch for the wedding.... oh how I adore high heels!!

My gorgeous little boy on his 1st day of Prep.... so proud of him :)))))

Best bit....Daddy had the day off (because of his weekend shift work) and was able to share in his excitement and take him to school!!!

Just a few sneaks....

And to top the week off, this morning I approached Riley's Prep teacher and told her that Riley will be away for a couple of days due to my sisters wedding and she said after a bit "Oh that that's a shame...I had chosen him as STUDENT OF THE WEEK this week (very first week of school!!!!), awards given out on parade on Fridays on front of the whole school!!!" I nearly burst into tears!!! Apparently he has taken a lot of his class mates under his wing and especially those who were sad to leave their mummy's and gave them lots of cuddles and told them not to be sad, that everything was going to be alright.  She said he was so bubbly to have in the class room and always made the other children laugh and forget about mummy and home!!!

So so so so proud of him...he may never be a top academic student (but then again who knows) but one thing I know he will always have is a HEART of GOLD!!!

His teacher is keeping his award till the next Friday to hand out on parade!!! Watch out for a photo or two!!

Okay, still have lots of packing to do, so best keep going.  I know I haven't visited in a while, due to the busyness January has been for me and plus whenever I have tried BLOGGER has been playing up...so when I return I will do a big catch up!

Till then...
Thanks for visiting :))))
