13 days and 13arts with The Flying Unicorn!

Hi everyone,

Welcome to my blog and welcome to the 13 days with 13@rts and the Flying Unicorn Cross Promotion! I am so excited to be a part of this.  Hope you are enjoying it so far :)

Flying Unicorn has teamed up with 13@rts for the next 13 days and are excited to bring you some of the most incredible eye candy creations along with tips, techniques and yes even a video tutorial! Each day for the next 13 days we will direct you to one of the Creative Team Member's blog where you will get to see a tutorial on how to make some of the most amazing creations using products from 13@rts, Flying Unicorn and more! A prize pack will be gifted each day and all you have to do for a chance to win is like us on Facebook, comment and share that days creation! Are you excited? Then head on over to our blog for more details!

Below is my project that I have created using the gorgeous Timeless Collection from 13@rts as well as the Blue Matte Paint, Pearl Navy Blue Mist, 13@rts Gesso and Modeling Paste.

"Our Time Together"

Some close ups...

Gorgeous flowers are from Prima and Petaloo, chipboard cogs are 2Crafty and the metal cogs from Prima.

Metal adornments are from the Flying Unicorn which I have touched up using Lindy' s Stamp Gang Grab a Guy Gold mist and Luminarte Silks Acrylic GlazeSolar Gold

Ooops I even got some mist on my photo...oh well all part of the process :))

Here is a few tips from me when creating a mixed media type project.

1.  When it comes to masking, don’t always think you have to use gesso or modelling paste.  In this layout I have used the 13 arts Matte Blue paint along with a makeup sponge over a stencil to create a different effect.  Add some doodling around the shapes to make them stand out.

2.  To create a water colour effect on the background of your project, spray your favourite 13 arts mist on a plastic bag, scrunch the bag up and randomly press it down on your background.

3.  Highlight your embellishments using your mist.  Take the top off your mist bottle, using a fine paint brush paint around your embellishments to create a shadow effect.
