Riddersholm & Authentique Inspiration from Flying Unicorn

Hi Everyone,

I am here today to share with you a layout I created using some lovely Riddersholm papers as well as Authentique papers which I received in my pack from the Flying Unicorn.

Now Riddersholm is a brand I haven't had much to do with so I was excited to get the chance to have a play.  I have used a piece of Authentique paper for my base and my layers behind my photo are made up of Riddersholm papers. Authentique papers are so super thick they make for a perfect sturdy background especially when applying mixed media products.

"Pure Sweetness"

For my background I have used a Memory Box Stencil (love these stencils) using some modelling paste.  I have then used some Tim Holtz Distress Paint in Salty Ocean which I just dabbed on in a few different places then I quickly sprayed some water over it.  Then with a small paint brush I moved the paint along my background to spread it out.  This is a great way to get the colour more even as well as toning down the colour.

Lots and lots of gorgeous flowers...some Prima and some Petaloo.

And then ever so lightly I have sprayed in various places some Lindy's Stamp Gang mist in Fuzzy Navel Peach.

Products Used from the Flying Unicorn Store:

Prima Flowers - Abbey Blue
Silks Acrylic Paint - Solar Gold
Papermania Vintage Lace Boarders

Other:
Kaisercraft Stamp
Prima Stamp
Prima Vine, Buttons and letter stickers
Twine
Washi Tape and Tissue Tape
Gold Thread

Thanks so much for stopping by the blog today :)
Till next time....

Manor House Country Estate Inspiration

Hi Everyone :)

I want to share today a layout I created using the new and fabulous papers and flowers from the Country Estate Collection.

I used the "New Day" Paper as my base and because I wanted to add lots of mediums to my background I adhered it to a piece of 12 x 12 chipboard.  This just makes the paper stronger to withhold any sort of medium that is added.  So as you can see I went a little wild with lots of mist, masking and stamping...lol!

Melinda Thompson May 2014

I love the gorgeous bright colours in this new release...there is something about adding pops of colour to projects to make them stand out and of course because I was scrapping about my happy little boy who is now at the adorable age of 8 months..the bright yellows were just perfect.

Melinda Thompson May 2014-1

I LOVE the cute chipboard hearts...here I have covered them with a light coat of Gesso and then after I had glued them down I went over parts of the edges with some mist and a fine paint brush then quickly spraying some water afterwards to tone and blend the colour as well as highlight the edges.  I have also used a Romantique Frame and tore it in a few pieces and placed it at the top of my layout for some extra texture and layering.

CSI - Case File No. 124 + some news and changes :)

Hello everyone... :)

WOW has it been that long since I last posted! So so sorry!! :) So much has happened in the last couple of weeks...the most important was my little sisters wedding in Brisbane...she was such a stunning bride, both were so happy and it was such a gorgeous day and night right on the river in the city. Last one of my 4 sisters to get married :)))

So I came home and hit the ground running, always lots to do and the days aren't slowing down. As you may know the Flying Unicorn are major sponsors to the challenge site - CSI: Color, Stories, Inspiration! So for this month the Creative Team at Flying Unicorn have been invited to be Special Detectives.

This week the Case File looks like this:

My take on this challenge :

"Hello Little One"

Sigh...I am still scrapping birth photos of my little boy from 8 months ago...wonder if I will ever catch up!
I am using a mixture of papers here...some really old Sass for my base paper, Maggie Holmes Crate paper and Jodie Lee Prima papers.

Lots of gorgeous flowers from Manor House and the "Love" Chipboard is from 2Crafty which I have covered in a few different colours from Shimmerz.

My Testimony....I used the Inspiration word "Wish" as a stepping point for my journalling.

Evidence:  Butterflies, Flowers (of course!) Swirls, Watercolour Effect, Bokeh Effect on Photo & Tiny Brads

Okay on to some news and changes:

As of June my role at Flying Unicorn will change.  My six month term came up and I thought long and hard about keeping on going...its always a hard one when you are on such and awesome team. But the demand of being part of a forum and all that is involved in that and the kits each month was getting too much for me especially now that my baby is on the move, and the older the big boys get the more demanding school and other activities are.

So now I am concentrating more on showcasing product that will be sent to me rather than being on the kit team and participating in the forum side of things.  Every now and then Alda will send me a kit to play with but she will mainly be sending me some product to showcase a couple times a month...I am really looking forward to this change. It will mean a little bit more time back for me and my family which is #1 but still being part of an awesome team :)) I am hoping to do a lot more scrapping just for me, for no reason or deadlines or the pressure which is something I have been wanting to get back to for a while.  Win win all round!!!

I also have some news...recently Manor House contacted me and asked if I would like to design for them again.  I once again, deliberated over this but I am happy to say that I am back on the team but only in a part time capacity...is there such a thing...lol!  You won't be seeing loads of work but I hope to do 1 or 2 projects a month.

Well that got a bit long winded so sorry :) Be back soon with more projects...

Till next time
Hugs xo

Flying Unicorn and CSI No. 121

Hi everyone!

The CT of Flying Unicorn are honoured to be Guest Detectives this month at CSI! CSI is a weekly scrapbooking challenge that inspires you to try new colors schemes and to tell your stories. Their Case Files provide inspiration that will get you thinking about scrapbooking in a whole new way. There is also fabulous prize packages with each case file! Here is this weeks case file.

And here is how I solved it...
I have used mostly papers and embellishments from the May KOM. I have used all colours and my Evidence is the following:

- Map Print
- Flowers
- cord/twine/jute
- wood (chipboard title)

"Dreams and Wishes"

Photo of my two eldest boys on their first day of school earlier this year...they were so excited to be finally going to school together :)

Lots of paper layers and yummy Shimmerz products used here.

And my testimony....

Flying Unicorn are a permanent sponsor to CSI and we are the main sponsor this month so I hope you get the chance to play along.

Till next time :)

Flying Unicorn May Kit

Hi Everyone,

I am here today to share with you some projects I did using the May Kit at Flying Unicorn.  So rustic and vintage, which was really different for me. Love all the french words in the cartographer collection...I had to use google translate to find out what they all mean...lol! :)

First up a couple of cards.

{Hi}

Some really gorgeous Prima flowers included in the kit as well as some Lindy's Stamp Gang mist in Bougainvillea Fuchsia...so so beautiful!

{Toi et Moi)....You and I

There isn't a kit that doesn't include some metals from Flying Unicorn.  They are an awesome addition to your projects and great to alter.  Here I have used my favorite Gold paint....Gold Solar by Luminarte Acrylics.

And one of my layouts...

"Amour you Toujours (Love you Always)"

This layout didn't photograph very well...so apologies...not sure what happened there!! Anyway moving right along...gorgeous grungy vintage colours suited this photo of my middle boy so well.

To blend in all the colours in the flowers, I just lightly brushed with Gesso and some of my favourite Gold Solar Acrylic paint by Luminarte. Love the black wirey thread from Prima that came in the kit.

Be back soon with some more creations.
Hugs
